Our Story
Betterlate publishing was founded in 2025 to publish books about and for English language teaching, whether in English-speaking countries, in countries where English is a foreign language, or online.
In the first three years, Betterlate Publishing will publish works by Jeremy Harmer on the methodology of English teaching, on ideas for how to teach different aspects of the language and language skills, and on planning and assessment. Plans for future developments are underway.
Our aim is to offer writing that is informed, informative, transparent and straightforward, even in these times of rapid change.
In recent years, many of the publishers who once commissioned and produced training manuals, and then brought out continual updates of them to take account of shifting pedagogic practices, new materials and technologies, no longer do so, leaving teachers in training (or teachers in search of new ideas, or needing to refresh their thinking and ideas) with nothing which isn’t significantly out-of-date. At a time when things are moving so quickly this absence is a hole that needs to be filled. Betterlate Publishing intends to do just that.
There are courses for teachers in training all over the world, but there are also hundreds of thousands of English language teachers who look for guidance and support, either through courses of many different kinds or by reading, themselves, to help them in their understanding and their practice.
For all these people, Betterlate Publishing will offer up-to-date practical resources that support both their professional development and their day-to-day treatment.
